かつて養蚕が盛んに行われていた新潟県十日町市の蓬平集落。
養蚕の記憶を語り継ぐ作品として2006年に大地の芸術祭でオープンした古巻和芳+夜間工房「繭の家-養蚕プロジェクト」がきっかけとなり、蓬平集落で育てられた繭からできたキャラクターグッズです。その集落のお母さんたちがひとつひとつ丁寧に手作りで制作されています。マユビトは多種多様にあり、それぞれにつけられた名前と細かいキャラクター設定がファンをひきつけ、新たな「越後妻有の特産品」となっています。

・大入り袋をずっとかぶっている。
・大入りをずっと祈願しており、ラッキーアイテムまで手作りしてしまう。
・すし業界のお客様が来る時は、鯛を醤油のタレビンに替えた恵比寿像を置く。
・北海道からのお客様が来る時は、北海道の形に変形させたワイヤーハンガーを用意する。
・歯科関連のお客様が来る時は、歯列矯正している能面を飾る。
・仏教関係のお客様が来る時は、仏足模様を彫り込んだビーチサンダルをスリッパに用意する。
・修学旅行のお客様が来る時は、鮭を食パンに替えた木彫の熊を置く。
・介護職のお客様が来る時は、光る耳かきを改造した茶杓や、電動スプーンを改造した茶杓を用意する。
